This was made using red, and ecru size 10 crochet cotton, and a size 6 & 9 steel hooks.

Using ecru, and #6 hook, ch 4, join with sl st to form a ring, 6 sc in ring (do not join), 2 sc in each sc around (do not join), work one sc in each sc around until it reaches the length of your candy cane. Slide candy cane into the tube just made. If you want to be able to retrieve the candy cane, break thread now, if you want it sealed up tight, (skip 1 sc, sc, in next sc) until it's closed. break thread, weave in ends.

For the flower and vine detail, use the size 9 hook, and red crochet cotton. Work as follows: ch 8, 2dc in 3rd ch from hook, ch 3, sl st in same ch, (ch 3, 2 dc in same ch, ch 2, sl st in same ch)3 times, **ch 13, 2 dc in 3rd ch from hook, ch 3, sl st in same ch, (ch 3, 2 dc in same ch, ch 2, sl st in same ch)3 times ** continue until you have desired length of flowers, and vines. Sew onto the cover in desired pattern.
